Description

Maunsel House is a magnificent 13th Century Manor set in 100 acres of stunning parkland at the heart of a sprawling 2,000 acre Estate, comprising of farms, lakes, woodlands, walnut groves, orchards, Somerset wetlands, cottages and ancient barns.

Currently the Ancestral seat of the Slade Family and home of Sir Benjamin Slade Bt. and Kirsty, the house can boast such visitors as Geoffrey Chaucer, who wrote part of the Canterbury Tales whilst staying here. The beautiful grounds and spacious rooms provide both privacy and a unique atmosphere for any event.

Civil Ceremonies
Maunsel House is licensed for civil ceremonies for 88 people in our glorious ballroom or 150 people in our wisteria garlanded gazebo.

Church Ceremonies
At Maunsel we have our own Estate Church in walking distance from the house for which Sir Benjamin Slade Bt. has the gift of the living. It is an enchanting Candlelit Saxon Chapel and as well as forming part of the Estate it is one of the smallest churches in England with seating for up to 50 people.

Within our Parish we have two other C of E churches, North Newton seats up to 150 and North Petherton seats up to 400.

Wedding Breakfasts & Celebrations
We can cater for all tastes dining alfresco under our roofed Pergola or inside in our magnificent Ballroom and/or Dining Room. You can be as formal, informal, traditional or unconventional as you wish, it is your day and we want you to enjoy it.

For your evening reception your choices are endless. You could have anything from DJ’s to bands, Keileighs to barn dances, fireworks to Chinese lanterns, hog roasts and buffets to posh fish & chips.

The number of guests attending your wedding can be tailored to suit. Inside the house can hold up to 150 people over two rooms or using an extension marquee to the French Windows in the Ballroom. Under our roofed pergola we can seat up to 200 guests and the marquee area can seat up to 250 guests.
