Appearances Matter

Whether you are having you wedding reception in a grand country house, a marquee, or the function room of your local pub one thing is for certain - you should always consider how you can improve appearances and create a real impression for your guests as they walk into the room.

Decoration is a very important aspect of any wedding and can transform the look and feel of a room or venue. Flowers are one obvious way of adding colour and romance to a room, think about where displays will have the most impact – large displays in a few focal points may have more impact than dozens of smaller displays. Think about where you want to be photographed – perhaps there is an ornate fireplace that can be decorated with flowers to add to the backdrop or stair well you would like to be photographed walking down that would look stunning with flowers wrapped around the balustrade.

Chair covers are becoming very popular and with good reason – there is nothing that can change the look of a function room more dramatically than chair covers with beautifully coloured organza sashes. Sashes come in almost every shade and you can get an almost exact match to your chosen colour scheme. There is nothing worse than drab tired looking chairs to spoil the look of a room – so chair covers are a must if you want to create an impression.

Wedding Decoration

Table decoration is important and need not cost a fortune, it is best not to have anything too fussy. One or two long stem flowers in a tall glass vase or floating candles in a bowl with petals are two possibilities.

Extra lighting in the form of fairy lights can add ambiance in the evening and light up otherwise dark corners. Topiary trees can be hired to add a bit of greenery and work particularly well in marquees. Balloons are a fun way to add extra colour and can be made in all sorts of designs to create archways, towers, cloud 9’s, table displays and so on – they work very well in Community Halls and function rooms that need extra colour.

If you are after a vintage style wedding colourful bunting and pretty vintage china looks lovely, this is perfect for a garden party style reception with a marquee.

For extra dramatic effect as people arrive at you chosen venue you may want to consider hiring giant festival flags such as those supplied by the Big Flag Company – they look absolutely stunning particularly in the sunshine fluttering in a breeze.
